Little Black Dress

Do you have a piece of clothing that you know you can always reach for in a moment of uncertainty? For me, it’s the quintessential little black dress. I recently found this one at Nordstrom and I have been wearing it non-stop. It’s soft, under $100 and the length is flattering no matter if you’re petite, tall or somewhere in between. I especially love the ruching, as it is great for hiding the stomach area on those days when your principal/boss/colleague brings donuts and you can’t stop eating them…! It allows the dress to stretch with you, all the meanwhile maintaining its shape. little black dress floppy hat neck scarf lace up sandals

I have worn this beauty with an oversized cardigan, thrown it under a striped-sweater to change the proportions, and paired it with a jean jacket. The options are endless! The best part- you can wear this dress more than once a week and no one will notice! I wore it with the cardigan one day, and then another day threw on my striped-sweater and had people comment how much they liked my skirt- a little trompe-l’oeil! Not even my students noticed, which is saying a lot, since little ones notice every single detail and don’t let you get away with anything!!!

I love this little black dress so much, I bought another one so that when I wear this lbd out, I won’t be sobbing in the corner of my closet. This is such a great staple for your wardrobe as you can dress it up for date night or dress it down for every day wear. For evening, you could pair it with a blazer, fun heelsstatement earrings or a statement necklace and for day time, throw on some lace-up sandals and a neck-scarf. Do you own a little black dress? If so, what do you like to pair it with? Comment below so we can give each other some style inspiration!

I love the sweet bandana. It reminds me of going through my mom’s scarf drawer…reminds me I should go through my own scarf drawer!

I love that they are making a comeback. You should definitely go through your scarf drawer and see what gems are hiding in there. I expect to see you in a scarf next time we cross paths!
